When Thanksgiving arrives next week, many Americans will partake in traditions such as eating turkey, watching football and spending time with family members. But people from other countries who are living in the U.S. may feel out of place while their neighbors celebrate the holiday.
For the second year in a row, a local couple is planning a Thanksgiving celebration with a global twist. At the event, they will also be introducing an initiative to provide Penn State students with opportunities for helping those who are less fortunate than themselves.
The International Thanksgiving Dinner will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Nov. 25 at Sozo Institute of the Arts, 256 E. Beaver Ave., State College. The dinner is for all international Penn State students and their families who are unable to go home or travel over Thanksgiving break. The event is sponsored by Global Strategic Alliance, a nonprofit organization affiliated with Keystone Church whose mission is to provide “strategic solutions to human suffering.”
